Description
The Inner Mongolia Wu'erqihan IFM Project: Protecting the Forests of China The Inner Mongolia Wu’erqihan IFM Project aims to protect the forests of Wu’erqihan Town, Yakeshi City, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. The project involves the Improved Forest Management (IFM) of the forests that were previously logged and converting them into protected forests. The project area spans 43,167 hectares and focuses on the conservation of two primary species: Birch (Betula platyphylla) and Larch (Larix gmelinii). Key Highlights: - The project aims to protect the forests of Inner Mongolia, which are vital for maintaining the ecological balance of the region. - The implementation of IFM techniques will help to preserve the natural habitats of the Birch and Larch trees and protect them from further degradation. - The project is expected to sequester approximately 1.1 million metric tons of CO2 over its lifetime, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. This project is crucial in protecting the forests of Inner Mongolia, which are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and provide essential ecosystem services such as water regulation and soil conservation. The project's implementation of sustainable forest management practices will not only protect the local environment but also provide economic benefits to the local communities through the creation of jobs and the sale of carbon credits. By supporting this project, individuals and businesses can make a positive impact on the environment while also contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
