Renewable Energy
Description
In Indonesia's North Sumatra province, a run-of-river hydro power plant has been developed and is owned by PT. PLN (Persero), a state-owned electricity company. The project's total actual installed capacity is 50 MW and includes a 33 MW and a 17 MW turbine. It is expected that the plant will generate and supply the connected Sumatra grid with 214,800 MWh of electricity annually. Key Highlights: - The hydro power plant is a run-of-river type which generates electricity with minimal impact on the environment. - The project is owned by PT. PLN (Persero), a state-owned electricity company in Indonesia. - The plant has a total installed capacity of 50 MW. - The Sumatra grid will receive 214,800 MWh of electricity per year. - The hydro power plant provides a renewable source of energy which is carbon-neutral. Through the operation of this hydropower plant, the utilization of renewable energy sources, specifically hydro energy, will increase and provide a more sustainable solution for the region. The project also helps reduce the carbon footprint by decreasing the reliance on carbon-intensive electricity generated by the grid. This hydro power plant serves as an innovative solution to meet the energy demands of the area while preserving the environment.
