Description
Acciona Wind Energy Pvt. Ltd. (AWEPL) is a company based in India and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Spanish Acciona group, which includes Acciona Energia Internacional, S.A., and Acciona, S.A. AWEPL has established a wind energy project as a project owner, utilizing 18 wind turbines supplied by Vestas Wind Technology India Pvt. Ltd. The 29.70MW project is spread over two locations located in Jagalur taluk, Davangere district, in the State of Karnataka, India. The purpose of the project is to construct, operate, and maintain wind-based electricity generation facilities that are connected to the grid. By supplying renewable electricity to the Karnataka State electricity grid, the project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by the reliance on fossil fuels. Key Highlights: - The project utilizes 18 wind turbines of 1.65MW each to generate 29.70MW of renewable electricity. - The electricity generated by the project is supplied to the Karnataka State electricity grid and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. - With a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 20 years, the project supplies electricity to BESCOM (Distribution Company) at a standard tariff of Rs.3.40 per kWh for the initial 10 years. This wind energy project is significant because it contributes to the transition to renewable energy sources, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting the fight against climate change. Additionally, it shows how companies like Acciona are leading the way in sustainable business practices, creating opportunities for local communities, and making a positive impact on the environment.
