Description

Utilizing Waste Heat to Power Sponge Iron Plants in Tamilnadu Sree Rengaraaj Power India Private Limited (SRPIPL) has developed a project to generate electricity by utilizing the waste heat from flue gases created in DRI Kilns of Sponge Iron Plants. This innovative project is located in Perundurai Taluka of Erode District, Tamilnadu. Key Highlights: - The generated electricity from waste heat of flue gas is 8MW. - The electricity is used within the industrial facility for captive usage and the remaining surplus power is wheeled to its sister concern through southern regional grid. - Net Electricity generated from this project is 50,458 MWh/yr. - The project reduces annual GHG emissions by an estimated 43,186 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This project plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions while also contributing to the energy needs of the industrial facility and its sister concern. Without this project, both Rengaraaj Steel and its sister concern would have to import power from the southern regional grid, increasing their carbon footprint. By utilizing waste heat to generate electricity, this project is a sustainable solution to meet energy needs while reducing GHG emissions.
