Description

The Foz do Chapecó Hydroelectric Project is a sustainable energy project developed by Foz do Chapecó Energia S/A. The hydroelectric plant is located in Águas de Chapecó municipality in Santa Catarina State and Alpestre municipality in Rio Grande do Sul State. The project aims to generate low emissions electricity for the Brazilian Interconnected System (SIN – Sistema Interligado Nacional), by utilizing the hydrological resources of the Uruguay River. Key Highlights: - The total installed capacity of the project is 855 MW, which consists of four sets of hydroelectric Francis type turbines with nominal capacity 217.14 MW. - The electricity generator nominal power is 213.75. - The project generates low emissions electricity that displaces carbon-intensive electricity, thereby reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. - The Foz do Chapecó Hydroelectric Project utilizes renewable and sustainable energy sources, which helps to promote a greener future.
