MSR-X Verified Plastics Recovery & Recycling

MSR-X advances a structured circular-economy model by converting post-consumer plastics — including LDPE, HDPE, PP, PVC, ABS, and PS — into independently verified material-substitution emission reductions.

The project addresses a persistent global challenge: large volumes of decentralised plastic waste currently entering landfill, incineration, or non-traceable recycling streams without verifiable environmental outcomes or chain-of-custody integrity.

Through structured recovery, traceable processing, and conservative lifecycle accounting, MSR-X enables quantifiable reductions associated with displacement of virgin polymer production.

At the core of the project is Xworks’ digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) system, designed to capture, reconcile, and validate material flows required for emission reduction quantification.

The methodology is aligned with ISO 14040/44 lifecycle assessment principles and ISO 14064 greenhouse gas quantification standards. It is designed to be compatible with evolving material traceability and due-diligence frameworks within the EU.

Each verified reduction corresponds to one tonne of CO₂e reduced through conservative material substitution accounting.

Xworks operates under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems to ensure operational consistency and environmental controls.

All emission calculations follow ISO-aligned lifecycle and greenhouse gas accounting standards.

Reductions are issued only after independent validation and verification by Control Union (ISO 17029 accredited). Each verified reduction is serialised, traceable, and subject to one-time retirement to prevent duplication or double counting.

The dMRV system maintains full audit records, including batch linkage, transfer history, and retirement status.

The project tackles one of the most persistent global waste challenges: millions of tonnes of decentralized plastics that currently enter landfill, incineration, or uncertified recycling channels without traceability and without meeting emerging Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements.

Technology & Methodology

At the core of the project is Xworks’ digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) platform, which captures and validates all material flows required for MSR-X issuance.

Using a combination of:

digital mass balance,

geo-tagged photographic and documentary evidence,

certified inputs and logistics records,

third-party validator attestations,

each tonne of material is tracked end-to-end.

Verified outcomes are tokenized into XTokenz MSR-X Credits, where:
