Description

Located in Su’nan Yugu Autonomous County, 102 km away from Zhangye City in Gansu Province, China, the Dagushan Hydropower Plant (DHP) is a run-of-river hydropower project that generates 65 MW of electricity (2x26 MW+1x13 MW). Gansu Zhangye Dagushan Hydropower Co. Ltd. constructed and operates the project, which provides significant environmental and economic benefits while contributing to local sustainable development. Key Highlights: - The DHP project generates renewable energy by utilizing the flow of the river, reducing the dependence on non-renewable energy sources. - The project is connected to the Northwest Power Grid (NWPG) through Gansu Power Grid, which helps displace the electricity generated by NWPG and consequently reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. - The estimated annual GHG emission reductions from the DHP project are 170,015 tCO2e, making it a significant contributor to China's carbon reduction goals. The DHP project is essential in China's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy. The project generates renewable energy, reduces GHG emissions, and contributes to sustainable development in the region. Furthermore, the project's location in Su’nan Yugu Autonomous County and its connection to NWPG through Gansu Power Grid demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of renewable energy projects in remote areas.
