Description

NHPC's Teesta HE Project - Stage V: A Sustainable Solution for Energy Production NHPC, a Government of India enterprise, is implementing the Teesta HE Project - Stage V, a run-of-the-river scheme aimed at producing sustainable energy for the Eastern region of India. This project has installed a capacity of 510 MW, composed of three 170 MW turbines that will generate a total of 2572.67 MU of energy, which will be absorbed into the NEWNE grid. Key Highlights: - The project is located near Singtam, about 4 km upstream of the confluence of Rongnichu with Teesta. - The Teesta river project features a concrete gravity dam across the river with a 15 km long head race tunnel and an underground power housing three generating units of 170 MW capacity each. - The dependable discharge available throughout the year has been assessed as 60 cumecs and gross head available is 216.73 m. - The energy generation at 90% dependable year and 95% machine availability is 2572.67 million kWh. The Teesta HE Project - Stage V is a significant renewable energy project that provides a sustainable solution for energy production. The project's dependable discharge, gross head available, and installed capacity of 510 MW ensure a consistent and reliable source of energy throughout the year. Additionally, the energy generated from this project will contribute to India's goal of reducing carbon emissions and moving towards a more sustainable future.
