Description

This reforestation project aims to convert nearly 19,000 hectares of land previously used for cattle grazing into a sustainable forest plantation that sequesters large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while producing high-value, long-lived timber products. Key Highlights: - 18,988 hectares of land previously used for cattle grazing will be converted into a forest plantation - The project will sequester large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere - The timber produced will be high-value and long-lived - The project is now known as Lumin/Eucapine Uruguay Forest Plantations on degraded grasslands under extensive grazing By reforesting the previously degraded land, this project will not only reduce carbon emissions but also promote biodiversity and create a sustainable source of timber products. The new name of the project reflects the partnership between Lumin, a leading global forestry company, and Eucapine, a Uruguayan forestry company, to implement this innovative reforestation project.
